“Being able to read is very important. It gives us our own opinions and provide us with joy.”
– Founder of Kenya Book Box, Ilse Christensen
Founder of Kenya Book Box, Ilse Christensen, believes that reading is the first step towards education, and it can be a way out of poverty. That’s why she wants to help more children learn how to read. In an effort to establish more school libraries in Kibera, Society of Lifestyle and Kenya Book Box donate funds collected by employees and school supplies from Monograph.

school libraries in Kibera – a CITY AFFECTED BY poverty
Establishing more school libraries is made possible with the help of donations and by involvement from local schools. Books donated by Kenya Book Box are in Swahili and English, primarily by African authors, in order to reflect a reality the children can relate to. For each library, the aim is to collect about 400 books that vary in difficulty.
